The Armenian Cultural Garden committee announces the installation of the principal granite monument in their new Garden this week:  November 15 through 22, 2009.

Celebrate Latvian Independence Day, Latvian Cultural Garden

Join the Latvian community as they celebrate the 91st anniversary of Latvia’s Independence (November 18, 1918) at 9:30 AM on Sunday, November 15, 2009.

Latvian historian, Leide Nelmane, will offer observations on the occasion as well as giving voice to the local Latvian wishes of greetings and congratulations to Latvia on this signal occasion and accomplishment.  A wreath celebrating the occasion will be placed before the Latvian flag and pole at the Garden at 1030 MLK Jr. Drive.  On the west side of the street at the intersection with the Ansel Road exit.

Holiday Dinner Meeting of the Cultural Gardens Federation

November 9th, 2009

Mark your calendar.  The Federation’s Holiday dinner is coming Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at Shynok Party Center, 5840 State Road, in the middle of our area’s “Little Ukraine” neighborhood.  And you can be sure that you’ll find lots of Ukrainian delicacies on the menu. “Mum’s The Word”–a family friendly event at Rockefeller Park Greenhouse

November 2nd, 2009

Rockefeller Park Greenhouse has a beautiful, new, indoor chrysanthemum exhibit opening on Saturday, November 7, from 1 to 4 PM at the Greenhouse.  Entertainment by local buskers (musicians, dancers, mime, and clown).  Kids’ activities of face-painting, mask-making and potting winter-flowering bulbs. No admission fee. Fees for snacks, beverages and 50/50 raffle to support Greenhouse programs.  Free parking at the Greenhouse and across the street at Sam Miller Park.

Located at 750 East 88th.  First street, on east side of MLK Jr.Drive, south of I-90.  At the top of the hill.  Go to www.rockefellergreenhouse.org for more information and map.  Takes place rain or shine in the Greenhouse.

Bring Mother Teresa to Cleveland!

November 2nd, 2009

You can help do it.  Come to the Tuesday, November 10th, fundraiser for the Albanian Cultural Garden.  Funds raised will put a greater than life-sized statue, of Mother Teresa, in the new Garden as the focal point.  Mayors Jackson and FitzGerald, among other celebrities, will be there. The event is at West Sixth Street Pizzeria, 1313 West 6th Street, from 5 PM to 8 PM.  Donations welcome at the door, or by check to Albanian-American Association of Cleveland, 15617 Detroit, Suite 2, Cleveland, Ohio 44107.  No reservations needed.
